Ruth Smith
Founder and director
I founded the Sustainable Results Lab to bring world class digital marketing to the environmental sector.
I’ve held multi-million-pound P&L responsibility at a top-performing FTSE 100 company where I launched new digital products and turned around a failing brand.
My background as an award-winning editor has put me at the forefront of developing multi-media content to grow audiences and revenue.
I love using insights from behavioural sciences to connect with people and drive positive change.
Achievements: I’m proud of beating The Economist and the Wall Street Journal to win best use of research and data at the Association of Online Publishing awards. I was also pretty chuffed to beat the editors of New Scientist and Farmers Weekly to win editor of the year.
Outside of work: I love gardening, cooking and a glass of wine.

I have over 8 years’ experience in digital and content marketing.
I’ve worked in both client and agency side roles covering loyalty, data, social media and content marketing. I’ve provided strategic support for a global base of clients across technology, financial services, and retail sectors.
Most recently, I’ve helped Intel with their email marketing across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
I have a keen interest in the environment and try to live as sustainably as possible by cutting down waste and single-use products.
Outside of work I love reading, listening to podcasts, crocheting and spending time with my friends and family.

My digital marketing clients include a global sustainability consultancy in the commercial building sector and Safia Minney MBE, founder of People Tree – one of the first ethical fashion brands.
Formerly an award-winning editor and product developer, I have more than 20 years of experience in journalism in both Australia and the UK.
My speciality is using techniques learnt from journalism and screenwriting to create engaging and compelling story-telling for brands as part of a strategic approach to business development.
The worlds of journalism, sales and marketing are merging, and successful businesses will be those who work to build and serve communities of life-long customers.
Having grown up on a farm in Australia, I’m passionate about finding ways to reduce our impact on our precious planet.

I’ve provided expert market research services for more than 20 years.
I have worked on everything from bespoke projects to understand customer needs to long-term multi-national tracking studies that have lasted years. Using a wide variety of techniques and tools, these research results have helped grow businesses in an evidence-based way.
Discovering objective insights into customer behaviour and putting them at the heart of all decision-making helps businesses thrive.
Learning about what people really think and bringing data to life is an exciting process and one which I love bringing to clients.
Outside of work I love being outdoors, travelling to new places, walking my dog and exercising to licence a chocolate-eating lifestyle.

My passion is crafting delightful brands – brands that stand out and encapsulate the deeper purpose of a business.
I love to use my skills as an illustrator to create engaging visuals that help bring clarity to complex subjects and inject emotion and personality to help brands connect with their audiences on a deeper level.
I’ve 15 years experience as a designer and feel I have reached a point in my career where I’m wanting to put my skills to use towards the greater good.
Outside of work I love mountain biking, paddle boarding and snowboarding with my family.

My background is in launching and growing digital information and data analytics businesses in the UK and internationally in a highly successful FTSE 100 company.
Understanding customer needs, harnessing the power of digital marketing and building high performing sales and marketing teams was key to my success.
I’m proud to be able to bring this experience built-up over 20 years to the environmental sector. Having launched products to disrupt markets and turnaround failing brands I’m passionate about helping businesses get their message across and achieve success.
Outside of work I spend most of my time walking my dog, practising yoga and building and making things.

I have worked in publishing and content marketing as a sub-editor and production editor for over a decade in a career spanning consumer, client and trade publishing.
From Retail Week and Drapers to The Independent and i via Harrods and Weight Watchers, I have a wealth of experience when it comes to ensuring the written word is accurate, engaging and jumps off the page or screen.
I am passionate about tackling climate change and keen to work with businesses that feel the same way.
My work at Retail Week has included reports on sustainability for clients such as IBM and British Gas. In my free time, I enjoy yoga, podcasts, spending time with friends and live music.
